Release Notes - 20ᵗʰ of August 2026

We are excited to share the latest enhancements deployed to Invent Medical! This update introduces a ground-up rebuild of the teeth chart, an upgraded image editor with drawing annotations, integrated scanner support, granular print permissions, and a compact timeline view.

🦷 Rebuilt 3D & 2D Teeth Chart

  • Performance & Rendering:
    • Implemented on-demand rendering to eliminate idle GPU/CPU usage, drastically smoothing rotation, tooth selection, and sweeping actions.
    • Dynamically increased Level of Detail (LOD) models for higher quality rendering on desktop and single-tooth views.
  • Anatomical Accuracy & Jaw Motion:
    • Teeth are now placed with realistic tilt, inclination, and arc spacing to form a proper bite with natural overbite.
    • Re-engineered TMJ animation to open naturally around the true joint axis. Added a degree slider to set and remember partial opening angles.
  • Materials, Crowns & Implants:
    • Procedure templates now map material types (amalgam, composite, gold, ceramic, glass ionomer) and crown materials directly onto tooth models.
    • Added 6 anatomically accurate implant screw types (Tapered Tissue Level, Tapered Bone Level, Cylindrical Fine Thread, Cylindrical Deep Thread, Compressive Screw, and Stepped Cylinder) rendered at true-to-life scale.
    • Expanded supernumerary teeth options to include Conical, Tuberculate, and Supplemental types with dedicated highlights and controls.
  • Workflow & Display Tools:
    • Added an interactive Tooth Procedures tab to view, status-update, or jump directly to encounter details for selected teeth.
    • Introduced selection tools for tooth, sextant, quadrant, or arch, alongside toggle options for jaws, primary/permanent teeth, procedure colors, and an orientation gizmo.
    • Auto-saves changes seamlessly and allows attaching custom rich-text treatment notes during procedure creation.
    • Charts can now be exported directly into a new Charts folder within Patient Documents.

🎨 Image Editor & Document Annotations

  • Advanced Photo Workbench:
    • Opened images now feature an Edit Image workbench equipped with adjustment sliders (brightness, contrast, zoom) and transform tools (rotate, flip, crop).
    • Annotation Tools: Add persistent drawings using pen, text, eraser, and color-selection tools. Edits automatically save as a new document copy, preserving the original file.
  • Integrated Document Scanning:
    • Added a Scan Document action natively integrated with Invent DeskLink to interface directly with local TWAIN and WIA scanners.
    • Configure resolution, color mode, double-sided output, and multi-page options directly in-app. Outputs automatically compile into single PDFs or JPEG images.
    • Displays intelligent driver warnings when fallback WIA drivers limit hardware settings.
  • Document Management Improvements:
    • Rename or move documents directly from the viewer menu with automatic folder-permission checks.
    • Introduced list sorting (Name A-Z/Z-A, Last Modified) and simplified file uploading without requiring prior folder navigation.

⏱️ Patient Timeline & User Preferences

  • Compact Table Timeline:
    • Introduced a compact list table option alongside the graphical patient timeline.
    • Flexible day headings allow switching between relative ("Today", "Yesterday") and absolute date views.
  • My Medical Preferences:
    • New dedicated user preferences page accessible via the main profile menu.
    • Customize landing defaults for patient files (Medical Summary vs. Timeline) as well as default timeline sort order, dates, and filtering preferences.

🖨️ Document Controls & Security

  • Granular Print Permissions:
    • Split viewing and printing rights into dedicated security permissions across Patient Labels, Encounters, Treatment Plans, Flowsheets, Forms, Prescriptions, Perio Charts, Referrals, Lab Orders/Results, Statements, and Receipts.
  • Print Preview & Audit Logging:
    • Converted print buttons into unified dropdown menus offering Print, Preview (modal with browser native tools), and Download PDF.
    • Every print, preview, and download event is now fully recorded in the system audit log.
